This website is primarily dedicated to the promotion of Life Drawing (Figure Drawing) in Wellington , and has been designed to assist artists, models, and tutors to find out when, and where Life Drawing groups, classes and workshops are being held in Wellington. Life Drawing is a fundamental and basic component of being a competent artist. Unfortunately there are too many people who regard Life Drawing as tacky or sleazy but have never attended a Life Drawing group. It is hoped that this web site will become an effective tool in marketing and promoting Life Drawing as a seriously accepted and essential component of drawing which is treated with the reverence it deserves. |
The ability to draw the human form is not something that comes naturally to many people, but once mastered the skills necessary are transferable to drawing everything else. Life Drawing requires learning the necessary skills for measuring proportion, contour, gesture, foreshortening and perspective. In terms of perspective and contour and translating it from a 3D form to a one dimensional form on a sheet of paper the human form is as complex as it gets, and this is primarily the reason Life Drawing has been regarded as so fundamental to learning to draw over the centuries. |
