Tawa Community Education Centre

(Tawa College Evening Classes)

Tawa College is located in Duncan St, Tawa - approx 15 minutes drive (by car) north of Wellington City. The College is also located in close proximity to the local Railway Station.

Amongst the large range of courses available at the Adult Evening Classes at the Community Education Centre, a new course on offer this year is - An Introduction To Life Drawing.

The 6 week course on Introduction to Life Drawing is primarily designed to cater for people who can draw and wish to progress to drawing the human figure. This does not preclude those who have not drawn before and evidenced by some of those who have attended the course this year, with pleasant results.

The course is designed to teach people how to draw but to equip them with a variety of techniques to aide and overcome many peoples reluctance to draw the human figure.These techniques can then be used in drawing of landscape or still life. A brief overview of the course outline is as follows;

week 1 - Proportion and Anatomy (Part 1)

week 2 - Proportion and Anatomy (Part 2)

week 3 - Gesture

week 4 - Contour - blind, partial blind and cross contour

week 5 - Tone and shading

week 6 -Perspective and foreshortening

Course numbers are limited to 9 and this enables those attending to receive time for individual attention.
